Решив обновить для себя познания относительно гитар Джерри Гарсиа (Grateful Dead, теперь уже находящегося в мире ином - RIP), наткнулся на эту статью: GUITARS MAY BRING SIX FIGURES AT AUCTION How much are Jerry Garcia's guitars worth? Under the terms of the settlement, the Dead keep Rosebud and Headless, a strange-looking Doug Irwin design with no tuning pegs that Garcia never played. Guitarmaker Irwin gets Wolf and Tiger, the latter the guitar both sides considered the prize because Garcia spent so many years playing it. The Dead retain the right to match the best offer and buy the guitars back. Irwin has already said he will auction the guitars. "The question is 'What will someone pay for it?' " said Steve Routhier, the buyer who assembled the Hard Rock Cafe's collection. Routhier has bought hundreds of rock-star guitars at auction, including models previously owned by greats like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and John Lennon. He believes the auction gallery would set an estimate of $80,000 to $100,000, a low figure designed to entice bidders. He estimated the value of the guitars at $200,000 to $300,000 each. But these one-of-a-kind pieces could attract the sort of crazy, spend-anything buyers that make auctions so unpredictable. An acoustic guitar that belonged to Buddy Holly, originally estimated by Sotheby's at $20,000, was sold for more than 10 times that in 1990 to actor Gary Busey, who played Holly in the movie "The Buddy Holly Story." The same year, the white Stratocaster that Hendrix played at Woodstock sold for $325,000 to an Italian collector (the guitar is now owned by Microsoft billionaire Paul Allen and displayed in his Seattle rock museum). The highest price ever paid for a rock guitar was $450,000 in August 1999 for Eric Clapton's "Brownie," the tobacco-burst Stratocaster he recorded "Layla" with during his Derek and the Dominoes days. That guitar, too, is part of the permanent collection in Allen's Experience Music Project in Seattle.
